Anita Grewal is a Perth-based visual artist who uses colour as her primary medium. Born in England and raised in India, she learnt early that colour carries emotional and cultural meaning beyond decoration, an influence that continues to underpin her work.

Currently working with gouache on watercolour paper, she creates small-scale abstract geometric compositions where shapes appear both flat and overlapping, allowing colour interactions to drive perceptual experience. Influenced by science fiction, colour theory, modernist abstraction, and folk and miniature painting traditions, her work invites viewers to engage with colour as an active, emotional presence rather than a supporting element.

Before focusing fully on art, Anita worked internationally as a mathematics teacher, living in England, India, Colombia, the United States, and Germany. She moved to Australia in 2005 and settled in Perth in 2018.
